Other Councils

In Gloucestershire there is a two tier system of principal authorities – Gloucestershire County Council and Cotswold District Council.

Gloucestershire County Council comprises 63 Members, covering a number of electoral divisions.  Within Cotswold District, there are currently 9 divisions, each represented by one County Councillor.  For details of all County Councillors, and for more information about the County Council generally, visit Gloucestershire County Council.

In addition to the County and District Councils, there are also Town and Parish councils known collectively as local councils. The district council has strong links with all the parishes in the Cotswolds.

Councillors are elected to local councils at the same time as the district elections are held.

Local councils may be responsible for things such as cemeteries, community centres and playgrounds.

Local councils usually have a clerk who is the first point of contact for any issues you wish to raise with them.

You can get further information and contact details for local councils on the Parish and Town Council pages on Gloucestershire County Council's website. For general enquiries about local councils, contact Electoral services.
